Content Marketing is a form of marketing that is focused on the creation of materials to be shared on an online platform such as blogs, vlogs, and social media posts to get viewers to engage with a brand.

When you think of content marketing, what do you think of? Blogs, ads, social media, etc? In all actuality, content marketing is a little mix of everything, and it breaks down like this:

How to get people to your website?

Attract Visitors

You want people to come to your website because not only do you have something to sell, but you also have something to say! Creating content to keep users engaged in your brand will help users continue to come back to you!

Blog Posts

On your website, you put information out there on a specific topic to answer a question that either a current or future customer may want to be answered from you. Not only do blog posts help generate user interest to your page, but it also helps with your search engine optimization. Google (and other search engines) love to see businesses or brands sending out helpful information. When they see this, you get rewarded with higher rankings.

Podcast

Podcasts are a great form of marketing. They are small “episodes” surrounding a specific topic and are perfect for today’s on-the-go consumer. I listen to them when I am on the road all the time, and I am sure you do too.

Videos

Videos are one of the most lucrative forms for marketing right now and do you know why? Everyone is camera shy, therefore staying away from it altogether. If you can get over your shyness and step in front of the camera, you can reach millions of viewers. Video also helps boost your SEO because YouTube is owned by Google and if you embed a YouTube video on your webpage it can keep people on your website for longer periods of time.

“If you want a way to create content for video, podcasts, and a blog. Create a video, transcribe that video and it will give you the content for your blog post, and if you strip the audio from your video you have yourself a podcast episode!”

Promote

Once you have the content created you need to start promoting your brand. You need to get your name out there, and to continue to keep being in the eyes of your consumer. How do you do that? By gathering contact info! Your email list is the golden ticket when it comes to digital marketing because it is the only platform where you actually “own” your contact list. If you leave one email marketing provider for the next, you get to bring that list with you. You cannot say the same when it comes to Social media. Facebook and Twitter can change their algorithms overnight, and your following may not get to see 90% of what you have to say. That is why you need to gather email lists.

Gather Contact Information

E-newsletters

Sending out a weekly or monthly newsletter to remind people about your brand is a great way to stay in touch. Not only do you have their contact information for this email, but you will have it for other emails as well.

eBooks

Ebooks are something that goes into a little more detail than a blog post. But it is still answering someone’s question. Whether they pay a couple of dollars, or just pay you with their email, this is still a great way to gather information from your consumer.

Webinars

Webinars are great for high ticket items, and low-ticket items. If you do them right, they are one of the best ways to convert your customers, and the best thing about that is you can do it on autopilot. Creating a video to answer the question they have, giving away something “free” and then keeping them on the hook just long enough to buy what you’re selling to fulfill their need.

Convert

The #1 way to converting customers is by TALKING to them! Whether that be via telephone (preferred way of communication) or email if they don’t like to talk on the phone. The point being, you’re never going to make a sale if you don’t follow through!

Phone

As I said before, this is the preferred way of communication. People like to know that they are talking to a real person, who knows what he/she is talking about instead of someone who can only google the answer to a question before hitting reply to an email. When you talk to them you get to find out more information about their needs by providing a consultation.

Consultations

Talking to them to figuring out what it is they need. By having a conversation with the customer, you are able to find out more about them and their business. You can then figure out what their needs vs their wants are then provide the assessment.

Assessments

Once the consultation is over and you have gathered all of the information that you needed to know about the customer and their business to find out what it is that they NEED. By knowing this information, you can then request a proposal that is tailored to that customer, and in their price range that makes it hard to say no!

Request A Proposal

Once you have followed all of the steps: you have gathered all of the information, have spoken with the client, let them know that you are an expert in your field, the client trusts you. It’s now time to request the proposal. If you have followed all of the steps closely, then 9/10 you are going to close the sale. Most of the time when people do business with you and follow through your “sales funnel” they know a lot about the topic, but just don’t have the time to do it themselves. That is why it is very important to know exactly what it id you’re selling. Be the person they need to go to for help with their issues and you will close the sale!

Final Thoughts

As you can see, content marketing takes the best forms of digital marketing and mixes them all together to come up with something great. It’s user-friendly and attracts customers. Doing it the right way can mean great things for your business.
